We offer care in the form of COHAT as recommended by board certified veterinary dentists and advised by the AAHA, AVMA and American Veterinary Dental College.

COHAT stands for Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment. In short, an assessment of the whole mouth with an oral exam, dental radiographs and appropriate treatment performed and or planned for future attention.

In our clinic the standard dental patient has completed pre-anesthesia blood work; received IV catheter placement and IV fluids (if indicated); a thorough oral exam with dental charting; full mouth dental x-rays; treatment as indicated – including extractions with post-extraction sutures, scaling of calculus, polishing of crowns, antibacterial rinse, fluoride application and OraVet application; analgesia (pain control) measures in place for anesthesia recovery; discharge instructions; a follow-up recheck exam in two weeks (if extractions performed) and/or plan for future COHAT scheduling.

Preventative care education, Royal Canin Dental diet food and other preventative oral health care products are available and recommended.
